Who are we?
Philip Scranage
Philip Scranage is the former chief of staff and policy director for Virginia Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell. During his time in the General Assembly, Philip managed passage of significant legislation including coal ash cleanup, landmark methane capture incentives, and the abolishment of the death penalty. In addition to his legislative work, Philip provides political consulting services, helping candidates launch successful campaigns, outraise the competition, connect with voters, and win elections.
Before working in the General Assembly, Philip was the policy director for Fairfax County Supervisor Kathy Smith where he advised on complicated zoning and land-use cases. Philip has also worked in federal lobbying and in media relations roles where he generated over half a million unique media impressions for an organic agriculture operation in the Midwest.
Philip is an avid sailor and baseball fan. When he’s not assisting clients, he’s on the water or catching a game at Nationals Park.
